Beware of Christians

"We point our fingers at all of these different things, but maybe we should be pointing the finger back at ourselves. Maybe it should be 'Beware of Christians!' Beware of the people like us who know how to say all the right things but we have a really tough time giving our whole lives to God. Because it really doesn't cost you anything to know how you're supposed to live or to talk about it, but it costs you a lot to actually do it. And it's really easy in college to go with the flow and do everything everyone else is doing, but if we're gonna proclaim to love Jesus and want to follow Him then our lives better reflect that. And as water-downed as the Gospel's gotten to where it's go to church and do these certain things...we have to change and have to live out what we're saying and what we are trying to pursue. The more that I try to glorify God with my life the more I realize how much I suck at it. But at the same time it showed how much God had to love me to send His only Son to die for me. And that's pretty cool. The bottom line is that I'm not perfect and I'm not gonna have all the answers and I screw these topics up all the time. The crazy thing is that God loves me anyway and despite all the crap that I do, He loves me. And that's crazy. And it's crazy that I'm just now figuring out what that means." -Beware of Christians

I just watched this documentary (got it for free at Passion, thanks!) and I really enjoyed it. The guys are extremely relatable. So much of what they said and talked about has been on my heart a lot this week...like I literally have thought the exact same things. They're our age and they're there to say that they're battling the world too. Facing the same temptations. The same hardships. We all face them. Life doesn't get easier when we have Christ, it gets harder. I don't mean to say that to scare you. If you're reading this and you don't know Jesus, I pray that that doesn't discourage you. Accepting Jesus and putting the cross on your back daily to follow Him is the best thing you could ever, ever do. But...like anything worth having, it comes at a cost. When we are Christians--not Christian Atheists, but real Christians trying to live each day for the glory of the Lord, following what He calls of us--we become a people not of the world. Therefore, we don't conform to the world. And that's hard to constantly be going against the world and going along with the Word...when we live in the world. The point in all of this is that we Christians--especially the college students facing the toughest and most tempting season of our lives--are all in this together. Do not ever stop shining Christ's light. In fact, go shine it in the darkness. Share God's love and glorify His name wherever you go. Live day in and day out fighting the good fight of faith. Jesus Christ loves us so much and decided we were worth fighting for. He is faithful to us always. Take comfort in that. Life isn't easy. But following the Lord will pay off. We will inherit the kingdom of heaven and live with our God forever in eternity! Now let's STOP saying we're Christians and go out and BE CHRISTIANS! Through every hardship, every trial and every season. Fight the good fight of faith!

I will spend another post in sharing all about Passion 2012, but I just felt this on my heart after watching the documentary. I will say though, that Passion 2012 was amazing. If one word is to sum it up it is JESUS. It was an amazing week. Though I am sad it is over, I am excited for the Lord to use me to go out and be His hands and feet in whatever I'm doing...to glorify His name wherever I am in my life! Get excited for Passion 2013. The curtain is coming down!

"If the world hates you, know that it has hated Me before it hated you." -John 15:18

"I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD." -John 16:33

"On that day, many will say to me. 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.'" -Matthew 7:22-23

"And [pray] also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak." -Ephesians 6:19-20

"Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." -Matthew 5:15-16
