My Portion Forever

Being home gives me the chance to go to church with my family. I love hearing Buddy speak. The Lord always whispers to my heart through him; he's very passionate in what he does. Today, he went into how Jesus is THE savior. The Lord sent prophets before Christ but He is the ultimate--if not living with Jesus in you, there is no point.

This may make absolutely no sense, I definitely do not have the gift he does in words!!! BUT...the point of sending the Savior--in addition to reconciling us to the Lord--was so that God could manifest Himself in human form. Jesus IS Lord. Jesus IS the way. You don't have Jesus to get more money, to feel better, to perform better etc. You JUST HAVE Jesus. Nothing else will satisfy. There is nothing else we need! So, the challenge left was this: are we listening to what the world has to say or what our Lord and Savior has to say? Are you seeking your satisfaction through things and status or is your identity found in Christ? Once you turn the volume of what God speaks UP, the volume of what the world "says is right" becomes MUTED.

Okay, so let me tangent in how this applies to me. As we get older, we feel the need and the pressure of the world to help us define who we are; to create an identity. I don't know about y'all, but trying to keep up with who the world says I need to be is EXHAUSTING. Things are changing in this society everyday, I cannot possibly mold who I am as quickly as the world molds itself. So, where am I finding my satisfaction? Is it in the world--in fleeting beauty, in nice clothes, socialite friends, fun parties and independency? Or is it in Jesus--in singing the sweeter song, waiting on the Lord's timing, spreading His Word and living a life for Him? Sorry world, you've been tuned out. I choose Jesus, who is my strength, my savior and my portion forever.

"Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of His nature, and He upholds the universe by the word of His power. After making purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high." -Hebrews 1:1-3

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and MY PORTION FOREVER." -Psalm 73:26

Love love love,
Jami
